As you might know, CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 reached End-of-Life (EOL) support from their respective upstream vendors on June 30, 2024. This means that since that date, these operating systems no longer receive security updates from upstream vendors, making them more vulnerable to potential security issues.
A Safe Migration
Don’t worry, we’ve got your back! We understand that migrating to a new operating system can take time. That’s why we’re offering a few options to help you through this transition:
- Migration Tools: cPanel offers user-friendly migration tools to help you move your data and settings to a supported operating system. Click through to learn more about the Transfer Tool.
- In-place OS Upgrades: The cPanel ELevate tool is designed to facilitate in-place upgrades between RHEL 7 to RHEL 8 based installations.
- Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS): We are enrolling all servers running CentOS 7 or CloudLinux 7 on cPanel v110 in the Extended Lifecycle Support program to provide you with some extra breathing room. This includes CentOS Enterprise 7 and CloudLinux Enterprise 7. During this time, we’ll partner with TuxCare to deliver critical security updates for CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 users. cPanel will also provide critical security updates and technical support for cPanel v110. Partners are still expected to provide support for their direct customers.
Extended Lifecycle Support program
Due to demand for ELS, we’ve extended the program to December 31, 2027. The ELS program runs from July 1, 2024 to December 31, 2027.
There is an additional monthly ELS fee per qualifying license to cover the additional security updates. Such fee continues to be charged until the underlying operating system is upgraded to a supported version. Licenses associated with supported operating systems do not incur additional ELS fees.
