Extended Lifecycle Support OSes update

As you might know, CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 will reach End-of-Life (EOL) support on June 30, 2024 by their respective upstream vendors. This means that after that date, these operating systems will no longer receive security updates from upstream vendors, making them more vulnerable to potential security issues.

A Safe Migration

Don’t worry, we’ve got your back! We understand that migrating to a new operating system can take time. That’s why we’re offering a few options to help you through this transition:

  • Migration Tools: cPanel offers user-friendly migration tools to help you move your data and settings to a supported operating system. Click through to learn more about the Transfer Tool.

  • In-place OS Upgrades: The cPanel ELevate tool is designed to facilitate in-place upgrades between RHEL 7 to RHEL 8 based installations.
  • Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS): We are enrolling all servers running CentOS 7 or CloudLinux 7 on cPanel v110 in the Extended Lifecycle Support program to provide you with some extra breathing room. This includes CentOS Enterprise 7 and CloudLinux Enterprise 7. During this time, weโ€™ll partner with TuxCare to deliver critical security updates for CentOS 7 and CloudLinux 7 users. cPanel will also provide critical security updates and technical support for cPanel v110. Partners are still expected to provide support for their direct customers.

Extended Lifecycle Support program

Here’s a heads-up about the Extended Lifecycle Support program: This ELS program will run from July 1, 2024 to January 1, 2026. There will be an additional monthly ELS fee per qualifying license to cover the additional security updates starting August 1, 2024. Such fee will continue being charged until the underlying operating system is upgraded to a supported version. We are offering one month of free coverage for the month of July 2024. This fee is subject to increase after six months (January 1, 2025). Licenses associated with supported operating systems will not incur additional ELS fees.

We understand that this might be a bit of a change, but our priority is to keep your websites secure and running smoothly. We encourage you to start planning your migration to a supported operating system as soon as possible. There are several excellent options available, and we’re happy to help you choose the one that best suits your needs.
