cPanel and Capitol Hill
Local software company, cPanel Inc., will be taking part in the first Internet Advocacy Day, Wednesday, February 27, 2013, on Capitol Hill. cPanel will be represented by their Vice President of Operations, and Internet Infrastructure Coalition board member, Aaron Phillips.
The goal of the Internet Advocacy Day is to educate lawmakers about the benefits of an open Internet by hosting a program with board members of the i2C and Congress. Regarding cPanel’s involvement, Aaron Phillips says, “I am extremely excited to represent cPanel as an i2Coalition board member in Washington DC. The board knows that we can contribute to the education of important issues that impact hosting & Internet providers, while teaching our government officials about the inner workings of web hosting and how the Internet works.”
Speakers at the event include Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS), Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), Congressman Darrell Iss (R-CA), Reddit Co-FOunder, Alexis Ohanian, and Christian Dawson, i2Coalition Co-Founder and Board Chair. Receiving i2Coalition’s “Champion of Internet Innovation” award are Senators Moran and Wyden, and Congressman Issa.
Along with speaking sessions, many members of the hosting industry will be taking part in the 15 demonstration booths and discussions.
