Last week we released a <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cpanel.com\/cpanel-tsr-2016-0003-full-disclosure\/\">TSR security update to all supported versions of cPanel<\/a>, and we&#8217;re expecting <span class=\"inline-comment-marker\">cPanel &amp; WHM<\/span> version 56 will hit our STABLE tier next week. Internally, our development department is divided into 9 different Agile teams, and today I&#8217;ll share updates from 7 of them.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Zer\u00d8 Cool<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"li1\">\u00a0Built an EasyApache 4\u00a0Developer\u00a0Distribution\u00a0platform\u00a0for\u00a0external\u00a0use\n<ul>\n<li class=\"li1\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Zer\u00d8 Cool\u00a0built a system that syncs our internal git repos with our github repos, and external OBS instances so partners can distribute EasyApache 4 themselves<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s9\">\u00a0Set\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s10\">EasyApache<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s11\">4<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">as<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">default<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0platform\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">new<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0v58 installations,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">for<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0both vanilla cPanel\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">as<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0well\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">as<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s10\">CloudLinux<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s10\">You will\u00a0still be able to install cPanel with EasyApache 3 using a touchfile<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0Added\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s13\">Pre<\/span><span class=\"s14\">&#8211;<\/span><span class=\"s6\">configuration options\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s8\">for<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0EasyApache 4 on fresh installations<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s15\">\u00a0Upgraded\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">IonCube<\/span><span class=\"s16\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">for<\/span><span class=\"s16\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">EasyApache<\/span><span class=\"s16\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s11\">3<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s12\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s13\">Improved the<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0behavior of PHP customizations\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s8\">in<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0EasyApache 4 to more closely match EasyApache 3<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s6\">With the\u00a0move away from SuPHP, we had to find a good way to allow users to load a custom php configuration<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s15\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">Improved and built on\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s16\">the EasyApache 3-to-EasyApache 4\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">Migration<\/span><span class=\"s16\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s2\">Script<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Cobra<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Created a\u00a0plugin to add support for\u00a0Let&#8217;s Encrypt. This plugin is now being BETA tested by a few customers. Support for Let&#8217;s Encrypt is the single most requested feature on the <a href=\"https:\/\/features.cpanel.net\/topic\/provide-support-for-lets-encrypt-automated-certificate-management-ssl\">feature request site<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.42857\">Added support for an additional mailbox format:\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.42857\" href=\"http:\/\/wiki2.dovecot.org\/MailboxFormat\/dbox\">Multi-DBox<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.42857\">\u00a0(or MDBox). MDBox is critical for our addition of another highly anticipated request:\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.42857\" href=\"https:\/\/features.cpanel.net\/topic\/as-a-server-administrator-i-want-support-for-remote-incremental-backups-so-that-i-can-make-less-resource-intensive-backups\">Remote incremental backups<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.42857\">. MDBox\u00a0will be disabled\u00a0by default,\u00a0and we will continue adding additional support in future versions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Honey Badgers<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Added a UI in WHM to convert to (and revert from) EasyApache 4 from EasyApache 3<\/li>\n<li>Improved our Apache support for PHP-FPM, including a UI to enable and disable PHP-FPM by domain<\/li>\n<li>Adjusted the provided EasyApache 4 Profiles:\n<ul>\n<li>The historical &#8220;Default&#8221; profile has been replaced with the RUID profile<\/li>\n<li>Any profiles that previously defaulted to 5.6 now use 7.0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Code Monkeys<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Added a blocker to prevent upgrading to v58 if Perl 5.14 was installed (recall that we\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.cpanel.com\/v56-and-the-internal-perl-update-5-22\/\">upgraded in v56<\/a>), and removed the ability to install Perl 5.14 after v58<\/li>\n<li>Removed stunnel completely\n<ul>\n<li>This also means that we will always start cPanel on the default ports now. Any custom ports configured in \/var\/cpanel\/cpanel.config likely hasn&#8217;t worked in quite a while and no longer will<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Updated Munin, which also updated RRDTools libraries as well<\/li>\n<li>QATools updates and additions<\/li>\n<li>Converted Mailman to an RPM, and updated Mailman<\/li>\n<li>Removed Bandmin completely<\/li>\n<li>Converted Roundcube to an RPM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Phoenix<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Added the License banners to Paper Lantern\n<ul>\n<li>Previously trial and test banners were displayed in X3, but have not been in Paper Lantern<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Added stats sidebar to Paper Lantern\n<ul>\n<li>If you&#8217;re curious, you can see what it looks like on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/features.cpanel.net\/topic\/paper-lantern-11-54_2\">feature request<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Upgraded CKEditor\u00a0to\u00a04.5.8<\/li>\n<li>Improved the customer experience with\u00a0Site Publisher: we now take a backup of the document root before publishing the new site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Loose Cannon<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Upgrade of Internal PHP from PHP 5.4 to PHP 5.6\n<ul>\n<li>This work included reaching out to third party developers, and allowing them early access to the new version for testing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Spider Pigs<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Adding PECL\/PEAR support for EasyApache 4<\/li>\n<li>Expanded the Addon-Domain-to-Its-Own-Account UI, and added a progress monitor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>What&#8217;s next?<\/h1>\n<p>If you are familiar with our <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.cpanel.com\/the-cpanel-development-process\/\">development process<\/a>, you&#8217;ll already know that Version 58&#8217;s code cycle is nearing its end. We&#8217;re just around the corner from Feature Freeze, with code freeze shortly thereafter.
