Last year when we introduced AutoSSL into cPanel & WHM it was a continued step in our effort to provide our customers added protection for their sites as well as their servers. More than 3.5 million certifications later, not only have we made the global internet arena a more secure place but in version 66 we’ve granted users additional control over how certificates are administered across their domains.

Domain Specific Validation

Comodo AutoSSL certificates are limited to 200 domains for every virtual host but now we’ve allowed cPanel users to select which domains get secured and which do not.

Historically, we’ve used an algorithm that determines and certifies the highest priority domains based on 7-part criteria however we wanted to provide additional flexibility for users with inactive or parked domains that no longer need certificates.

Additionally, this update provides an opportunity for increased privacy for some users. The SSL certificate lists all of the domains that it secures in a single location. The new domain specific validation allows users to leave individual domains unsecured to circumvent this listing. In addition to AutoSSL, cPanel & WHM also allows customers to purchase both Comodo and cPanel branded SSL DV, EV, and OV certificates from hosting providers that have their Marketplace enabled.

Editing Domains

To test out the new feature head to the Security section in the cPanel interface, and navigate to: SSL/TLS Status (Home >> Security >> SSL/TLS Status)

For more info on AutoSSL, check out a few of these resources:.

Last year when we introduced AutoSSL into cPanel & WHM it was a continued step in our effort to provide our customers added protection for their sites as well as their servers.
