Come mid-September, the Weebly team will head to Denver for cPanel Conference. This will be my 5th year attending cPanel Conference and I am thrilled that Weebly is a main sponsor. Aaron Phillips and team have consistently put on an outstanding show and this year will be no different.
After attending a number of Hosting conferences this year including WorldHostingDays.USA, WorldHostingDays.Germany and HostingCon Global, one trend is clear: the number of website builders exhibiting and attending these shows is growing. Why the sudden influx of these companies at Hosting shows? The answer: website builder platforms are no longer a nice-to-have, they are a must-have and a critical offering for Web Hosts.
The likely driving force behind the rise of website builders is the increasingly rapid growth of mobile. Here are some key stats:
- People spend more than 38 hours per month on their phones and look at their phone 1,500 times per week on average.
- Apps are increasingly becoming experiences that live across multiple devices — from wearables to phones, tablets, and web applications.
- Mobile accounts for more than 33% of traffic to Weebly’s network of sites. People are managing and editing their websites from their mobile device.
Mobile is changing how individuals engage with their websites today and prompting Web Hosts to deliver mobile-ready website solutions. At Weebly, we are now seeing a publishing event (where a user publishes or updates their website) every second, reinforcing how critical websites have become in the day to day lives of our customers.
Nick Dellis, VP Business Development and I will be speaking on Wednesday about mobile and its impact on hosts. The migration to mobile is a great thing for the Hosting industry and presents an opportunity to position your company as a mobile-web provider. We want Weebly’s Reseller Program to accelerate your competitive advantage with a strategic mobile initiative.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the conference and discussing this trend further!
All the best,
Chris Sheridan
